On September 2, we drove three robots up to Washington, D.C. for MeasureUP 2026 — Bear Analytics' one-day conference on agentic AI and data analytics for event teams. LineBot Studios was one of this year's partners, alongside Swoogo, Swapcard, Shepard, eShow, Snöball, Sessionboard, Gather Voices, Evolio, and Olympian Meetings.
We spent the day doing two things at once: drawing portraits for a room full of event professionals, and listening to those same people talk about what they're actually up against. About 200 organizers, association leaders, and trade show pros. Ten-plus sessions. Very little filler.
What we ran on the floor

Three bots, one table, roughly an 8x4 foot footprint. A guest steps up, we take their photo on an iPad, and about a minute later a real pen on real paper hands them something to take home. With all three running we can clear well past 100 people an hour without a line stacking up — which matters at a one-day event where the whole show floor happens in two coffee breaks and a lunch.

We ran in Dream Studio mode all day, which meant nobody walked away with a plain headshot. People got parachuting, playing guitar on a stage, doing yoga in a garden, riding a dragon past a castle, surrounded by their dogs. One attendee left as a caped warrior on the back of a lion. The scenes are what turn a giveaway into a thing people photograph and post.

Behind the table we ran a live gallery on a monitor, so every finished sketch joined a growing grid as the day went on. That screen did more work than we expected. People stopped to look for their own drawing, then stayed to look at everyone else's — which is exactly the kind of unforced dwell time a booth is supposed to create.

Every sketch printed on a postcard-style card branded for the day, with a QR code in the footer. The print is the souvenir. The QR is the trackable part. At a conference about proving event impact, we liked having an answer ready when someone asked what the activation actually returns.
Four things we heard all day
Nobody is short on data. The recurring theme wasn't "we need more numbers." It was that the numbers already exist — scans, registrations, session attendance, engagement — and most of it never makes it into next year's planning. The Event Content Learning Lab was built entirely around closing that gap.
Exhibitors and organizers aren't reading from the same page. The Show Floor Showdown put trade show organizers and a corporate exhibiting planner on stage together to talk honestly about why booth space gets bought, why on-site rebooking stalls, and what metrics exhibitors actually need before they'll commit. Uncomfortable and useful in equal measure.
AI is becoming infrastructure, not an experiment. One session framed it as the next step after wires, servers, and cloud — with the real work being security, permissioning, and trust rather than the demo itself. For anyone deciding what to build versus what to buy, that's a useful reframe.
The point of the technology is still the room. Sean Wargo of Apogee Insights, in a fireside chat with Bear Analytics CEO Joe Colangelo, made the case that event data only matters once it becomes something an organization can act on. The organizers doing this well aren't choosing between technology and human connection. They're using one to sharpen the other.

That last idea is more or less the whole reason LineBot exists. A robot drawing your portrait is a piece of technology, but what it produces is a two-minute conversation, a reason to stand still in a busy hallway, and something you carry out of the building. The tech is the excuse. The moment is the product.

What's next
We came home with a stack of business cards, a much clearer picture of what association and trade show organizers are being asked to prove to their boards, and a few ideas about making the print footer work harder as a sponsor asset.
If you're planning a conference, trade show, or corporate event and want an activation that draws a crowd and leaves you with something measurable, let's talk.
